Related Services

According to PaTTAN, Related services “are a key component of each child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).” These services such as Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Counseling or Social Work, or other services may be appropriate for an individual student to benefit from special education.

According to Section 300.34(a), related services include services provided as outlined within the the IEP:

“(i) To advance appropriately toward attaining the goals;

(ii)To be involved in and make progress in the general education curriculum...and to participate in extracurricular and other nonacademic activities; and

(iii) To be educated and participate with other children wit disabilities and nondisabled children...” [§300.320(a)(4)]
