

Samantha Martinez and Veda Kephart, the President and Vice President, of the POHS Social Issues Club, had the opportunity to have lunch with Representative Glenn Thompson and other community stakeholders today at Brown Dog Catering. Samantha and Veda shared the club’s experiences working with Penn State Outreach as part of the Youth as Researchers Program. The goal of the Youth as Researchers Program was for students to identify local issues in our area and to propose solutions and recommendations to the community. The Social Issues Club will present their research findings to their peers next Friday February 27th at the high school. They will also present their research to the community on Saturday March 14th at 4pm at the Rowland Theatre.

Soroptimist Scholarship is open to any female who is willing to describe your volunteer experience with a 750 word essay max NO AI, willing to describe why you deserve this award in 300 words without AI, provide two written references, have permission from your parents to apply for this award, be willing to speak briefly at our club at award night May 4, 2026. Stop in the counseling office for more information. Deadline March 20, 2026.
David O’Connell Memorial Fund Scholarship: Applicant must be a member of one of the organizations listed in “DOMF Eligible Organizations” at beginning of senior high school year and applicant must be a high school senior. Deadline: March 27, 2026.
Clearfield Jefferson Suicide Prevention Scholarship: This scholarship will be presented annually to two deserving seniors in Clearfield or Jefferson counties. This scholarship is an effort to encourage those that are dedicated to helping with the prevention of suicide. For more information please stop in the Guidance Office Deadline March 31, 2026.
Anna Woodside Scholarship: Applicants must reside within Mid Penn Bank’s service area. Must be enrolled full-time at an accredited college, university or vocational school in the United States for the fall term of the 2026-2027 school year. Apply online through Mid Penn Banks website under scholarships. Deadline is March 31, 2026.
Children’s Orthopedics Services Scholarship is for any graduating senior that maintains good standing with the community and school who is enrolled in a Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Registered Nursing or Physician’s Assistant program to an accredited medical related college/university. The Richard Condo “Don’t Ever Give Up” Scholarship: This Memorial Scholarship was established during the 2018-2019 school year in order to honor the hard-working, unselfish legacy that Dick leaves behind. This $500 scholarship is available to any male or female student graduating from Philipsburg-Osceola High School. The recipient must be accepted and planning to attend an accredited college, university, technical or trade school. See Mrs. Lancaste for an application. Deadline: April 17, 2026.
Dr. Alexander F. Boumerhi Family Scholarship: In 300-500 words, please respond to the following prompt: Describe your educational and career goals. Explain how your high school experiences have prepared you for your future plans, and how this scholarship will help you achieve your goals. See Mrs. Lancaste for an application. The Centre Daily Times Snyder Award: This award is presented to a graduating senior (one male, one female) who has lettered in at least one recognized interscholastic varsity sport. The recipient should be someone who has exhibited outstanding ability and achievement in the classroom. The recipient must also be someone involved in school activities other than athletics. Breakfast and lunch are free to all students again this year. Please remember at breakfast, to take 3 of the 4 items. You must take at least ½ cup fruit or veggie with your breakfast. Also at lunch you must take at least 3 of the 5 components available which has to include a ½ cup of fruit or veggies. If you don't have a fruit or veggie you will be charged for a lunch.
