    Art for Patriotism and School Spirit

    SSG Magdalena Tyson poses with ceiling tiles made by various art students and Illustrator's Club members. The recruiting office requested ceiling tiles based on two themes- patrioitism and school spirit. These ceiling tiles will be displayed and mounted at the Army Recruiting Office in State College.

    CNB Grant benefits Dual Enrollment Courses

    This 2023-2024 school year CNB provided grant funding for credited dual enrollment courses. Extra materials and supplies were purchased including large format printers, science tech, dissection tools, textbooks, new art supplies, and much more were all purchased for qualifying courses.

    Philipsburg Cemetery is asking for students to help with cleaning up leaves on Friday, NOV 8th at 10:00 AM which is an inservice day.  Any students who are interested in helping out and getting community service hours, please sign up in the main office.

    Students interested in being part of the POHS big buck contest please sign-up outside of Mr. Minarchick’s room.

    Attention anyone who needs community service:

    Saturday, November 9th there will be a road clean-up.  If you would like to help, please be at the Clearfield Moose in Wallaceton at 9:00am.  Please see Mrs. Lumadue if you need more information.

    Mountie PRIDE and Student Council are sponsoring a perfect attendance challenge for the month of October.  All students who have perfect attendance for the month of October will receive a ticket good for a large, homemade chocolate chip cookie from the cafeteria!  Excused appointments such as doctor or dentist will not count as absences.  So show your Mountie PRIDE by being here every day for the month of October!

    GUIDANCE**:  It’s the time of year for the annual Voice of Democracy Patriotic Essay Competition. The theme of this years essay is “Is America of Today Our Forefather’s Vision?” There is a $100 prize for the local winning entry. This year the essay is both a written & audio essay competition.  Submit an original essay & recording (3-5 minutes, + or -5 seconds) on a flash drive or other electronic device.  You can also email your written & recorded essay to Elizabeth Sinclair (VFW Post 3450- Philipsburg) at lizsinclair21@gmail.com.  Entries must be submitted by Thursday, October 31st, 2024.  You can turn your essay into your teacher or** **guidance counselor or to the above email.  This contest is open to all students in grades 9-12.  Addition details can be found in the Main Office.  **

    The VFW Post 5020 in Osceola Mills is having their annual VFW Voice of Democracy contest.  All applicants will receive $25 & the winner will receive $100.00 and also compete at District & State levels.  All entries should be submitted to Floyd Hauth- VFW Post 5020 Osceola Mills by November 1st, 2024.  This contest is open to all students in grades 9-12.  Addition details can be found in the Main Office or you can contact Floyd at 814-762-9794 or fhauth39@gmail.com.

    TODAY FOR LUNCH:**  The Bravo Bar on the left side of the cafeteria this week will be a Tex-Mex Bravo Bar. Offerings may be- BBQ Rib Sandwiches, Chicken or Beef Soft tacos, Burritos, and Nachos.  The right side of the cafeteria will be offering- Chicken Bacon Ranch Hoagie, Peas, Celery, Fruit, & Milk.**

    Breakfast and lunch are free to all students. Please take a fruit or juice with your breakfast so that it is considered free. Also, at lunch take at least one or all three of the following a fruit, a juice and a veggie or you will be charged for your lunch. This is mandated by the government in order for it to be free.
